Pittsburgh, PA – Rivers Casino on the North Shore of Pittsburgh has announced a major food drive to help Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank increase food donations for the holidays.

PITTSBURGH: Tomorrow, Thursday September 17, 2009, Rivers Casino will raise the flags of every member of the G-20 meeting at an 11:00 AM ceremony.  The 20 flags, to be flown adjacent to the casino’s porte-cochere, will remain up until Saturday, September 26th.  Last week the casino announced a special “G-20 $20G a Day Giveaway” promotion for its Rivers Edge Player Club members.

PITTSBURGH: Rivers Casino has announced a special promotion for its Rivers Edge Players Club members in honor of the G-20 Summit being held in Pittsburgh on September 24th and 25th – a “G-20 $20G a Day Giveaway”.  This is the first major promotion the Rivers has launched since its’ opening in early August.

PITTSBURGH: On Wednesday, August 19, 2009, the Rivers Casino will present the four local charities benefiting from the casino’s two test nights with a check for their share of the receipts.  Representatives from the four recipient charities – the Allegheny County World War II Veterans Memorial Fund, Allegheny General Hospital, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Urban League of Pittsburgh -- are expected to attend the 11:30 AM press conference.

Grand Opening Set for Noon Sunday

PITTSBURGH: The Rivers Casino has been given final clearance by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to officially and permanently open for business on Sunday, August 9th at noon. The Gaming Board approval comes after successful test periods on Wednesday and Friday.

PITTSBURGH: On Tuesday, July 28th the Rivers Casino will be hosting a tour of the casino for accredited members of the media. The 10:00 AM tour will be hosted by Greg Carlin, the CEO of Rivers, and Ed Fasulo, the casino’s President and Chief Operating Officer.  The Rivers is scheduled to open on Sunday, August 9th at noon.  On Wednesday, August 5th and Friday, August 7th, the casino will be hosting invitation only test-nights benefiting local charities.

Pittsburgh, PA-The Northside Leadership Conference (NSLC) leveraged $300,000 of the financial commitment from Rivers Casino to Northside neighborhoods into a $600,000 matching federal grant to support Northside businesses through NSLC’s subsidiary, the Northside Community Development Fund (NSCDF).

Designers Say Amenities “Reflect Character and Class of Pittsburgh”

PITTSBURGH: Today the Rivers Casino officially unveiled the looks, logos and color schemes of eight of their dining and drinking establishments at a 1:00 PM press conference at their office.  Detailing why names and color schemes were selected and how they fit in with the overall vision of the Rivers were representatives of the Geary Company, the Rivers’ advertising and branding firm.  The release of the amenities’ details comes less than 45 days before the Rivers is expected to open on August 9th.

On Friday, January 16, 2009, Rivers Casino will mark the laying of the highest and final pre-cast concrete piece of the 9 story garage structure with an 11:00 AM event at the site.  The casino, which is on track for an August 2009 opening, currently has over 400 workers on site.  Ed Fasulo, the General Manager of the casino, will celebrate the milestone with representatives of Keating Construction, the developer of the project.

PITTSBURGH: On Friday, November 14, 2008, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board officially presented Holdings Acquisition Co., L.P. with its license to operate the Pittsburgh casino. The license presentation came during a noon press conference following a tour of the facility by PGCB Chair Mary DiGiacomo Colins and members Sanford Rivers and Raymond S. Angeli and briefing on the status of the development. Holdings Acquisition principals Neil Bluhm and Greg Carlin accepted the license. Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, state Senator Wayne Fontana and Yarone Zober, the Chief of Staff for Mayor Ravenstahl, also attended and spoke at the event.

Highest Steel Beam to be Laid As Project Speeds Toward Completion

PITTSBURGH: TODAY, Thursday, October 23, 2008, the Pittsburgh Casino will celebrate the “topping off” of their structure when the highest and final steel beam is laid. The casino, which is on track for an August 2009 opening, currently has over 350 workers on site. Ed Fasulo, the General Manager of the casino, will celebrate the milestone with representatives of Keating Construction, the developer of the project at the 11:30 AM event.
